Praised for her “thrilling voice,” Eleanor Greenwood has established herself as an exciting emerging lirico spinto and young dramatic soprano, attracting attention for her performances in both the Italian and Wagnerian repertoire.
Recent highlights include role debuts as Floria Tosca in Tosca in Germany, the title role in Turandot in London, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni for Melbourne Opera. She has appeared at the historic Alte Oper Frankfurt and the Landestheater Eisenach in concert with the Thüringen Philharmonie, and performed alongside legendary soprano Sumi Jo at the Festival of Outback Opera in Queensland, Australia.
In September she appeared at the Markgräfliches Opernhaus Bayreuth in a Richard Wagner Operngala, performing excerpts as Senta and Gerhilde. In Australia she received enthusiastic acclaim for her performances in the Bendigo Ring Cycle, appearing as Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Dritte Norn in Götterdämmerung, and Ortlinde in Die Walküre, whilst also covering Freia in Das Rheingold.
Concert appearances include performances with Opera Queensland and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra at QPAC and the Cairns Performing Arts Centre in scenes as Leonore in Fidelio and Abigaille in Nabucco. She has also appeared as soprano soloist in Verdi’s Requiem at QPAC and has performed at venues including the Gladstone Entertainment Centre, Moncrieff Entertainment Centre and Pilbeam Theatre Rockhampton with Opera Queensland.
In 2024 she received a Green Room Award nomination for her portrayal of Elisabetta in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda with Melbourne Opera.
The recipient of the 2023/24 YMF Australia Opera Award, she also received the 2025 YMF Australia British School at Rome Award, spending three weeks in Rome focusing on Italian repertoire.
Eleanor Greenwood is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music Opera School in London and the Australian National University School of Music in Canberra.
