American dramatic soprano Jillian Finnamore is based in Berlin and is building a reputation for her powerful voice and commanding stage presence. Her repertoire now centres on the major dramatic roles of Wagner, including Isolde, Brünnhilde and Kundry, alongside core Italian roles.
Recent engagements include the title role in Turandot with Instant Opera in the UK and Woglinde in Das Rheingold with Regents Opera. She previously appeared with Regents Opera as Michäela in Carmen, where she was awarded the Regents Opera Verdi Prize in 2021. Other appearances include Aida in Maryland, Tosca in Sicily, Mimì in La Bohème in Ann Arbor, and Violetta in La Traviata and Desdemona in Otello in Harrisburg.
She established her career in leading lyric roles including Tosca, Mimì, Violetta, Desdemona and Lucia di Lammermoor, and appears regularly as a concert soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Fauré’s Requiem, Schubert’s Mass in G and Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio.
Recent performances also include Prima Cercatrice in Suor Angelica, Anna Gomez in The Consul, and Nadezhda in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Boyarina Vera Sheloga, performed in Russian.
Finnamore has trained with leading teachers and coaches in Europe and the United States, and has participated in programmes including the Lotte Lehmann Akademie, Bel Canto in Tuscany and the Mediterranean Opera Festival.
Born in Papua New Guinea and raised in West Africa, she brings an international perspective to her work.
