Lucy Schneider | Soprano

Australian soprano Lucy Schneider is building an international career in Europe, with recent and forthcoming engagements in Austria and Germany. Her repertoire spans Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Strauss, Humperdinck, Massenet and Britten, with a particular focus on lyric and lyric-coloratura roles.

In the 2026/27 season Lucy makes role debuts in Vienna as Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. These engagements continue a period of growing European activity following performances in Germany and Austria.

Recent appearances include Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and her international debut in Berlin as Najade in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos. Her performed repertoire also includes Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Cendrillon in Massenet’s Cendrillon and Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Alongside her performed roles, Lucy continues to develop major lyric repertoire including Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, Mimì in Puccini’s La bohème and Liù in Turandot. Her repertoire reflects a voice developing towards the central lyric soprano roles of Mozart, Verdi and Puccini while retaining the flexibility required for lighter and more coloratura-driven writing.

Lucy completed a Master of Music in Opera Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, graduating with first-class honours. She previously completed her Bachelor of Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where she established the technical and dramatic foundations of her operatic training.

During her development in Australia, Lucy worked with Victorian Opera and Opera Scholars Australia. She was named Opera Scholar of the Year and received an Aria Award through Opera Scholars Australia.

Lucy was also recognised through the German-Australian Opera Grant competition, receiving the Audience Award. The programme supports Australian singers developing professional careers in the German-speaking opera system and contributed to Lucy’s transition from Australia to Europe.

She has continued her professional and artistic development through work in Vienna and Berlin, gaining experience of the German-speaking theatre system while expanding her repertoire and language skills.

Now based in Europe, Lucy is establishing herself as a lyric soprano with a growing international profile. Her combination of vocal warmth, flexibility, musical intelligence and stage experience places Mozart, Verdi, Puccini and the German repertory at the centre of her developing career.
