Warwick Fyfe – heroic baritone

Warwick Fyfe is a Helpmann Award-winning singer and is considered one of Australia’s finest baritones. Recent appearances include Wotan Die Walküre, Beckmesser Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Alberich Der Ring des Nibelungen, Sancho Panza Don Quichotte, Amonasro Aida, Geronio Il turco in Italia and Klingsor Parsifal for Opera Australia, Alberich Das Rheingold for the Japan Philharmonic and Tianjin Symphony Orchestras and Peter Hansel and Gretel in Singapore.

Following studies at the Victoria College of the Arts, he joined Victorian State Opera’s Young Artist Program and became an Opera Australia Young Artist, subsequently becoming a principal artist.

His current repertoire includes Don Pizarro Fidelio, Klingsor Parsifal Dr Schön Lulu, Peter Hänsel und Gretel. Tonio Pagliacci, Scarpia Tosca, Mandryka Arabella, the title roles in Falstaff Falstaff and Rigoletto Rigoletto, Germont pere La traviata, The Dutchman Der fliegende Holländer, Heerrufer Lohengrin, Faninal   Der Rosenkavalier, Fritz Kothner Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Alberich Der Ring des Nibelungen and Wolfram von Eschenbach Tannhäuser. 

Recent performances include Beckmesser Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Opera Australia) & Athanael Thais (Finnish National Opera & Ballet); Barone di Trombonok Il viaggio a Reims (Opera Australia) and Bartolo Il barbiere di Siviglia for Victorian Opera; Alberich and Amonasro for Opera Australia, Wotan Die Walküre in Singapore, Pizarro Fidelio in Melbourne and Perth and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 for the Melbourne Symphony.

Warwick Fyfe’s concert engagements in repertoire include: Beethoven Symphony No.9, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Verdi’s Requiem, and Orff’s Carmina Burana have taken him to orchestras such as the Adelaide, Melbourne, Singapore, Sydney, Tasmanian and West Australian Symphony Orchestras, the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society and the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra.His recordings include The Love for Three Oranges (Chandos CD) & Der Rosenkavalier (Opera Australia CD/DVD).

Recent highlights include Bluebeard Bluebeard’s Castle with the Monash Academy Orchestra, Leporello Don Giovanni for New Zealand Opera, Amonasro Aïda for Opera AustraliaDaland Der fliegende Holländer for Victorian Opera and Mahler  Symphony No. 8 with the Orchestra of the Music Makers, Singapore. He made his UK operatic debut with English Touring Opera in their production of The Tales of Hoffmann as Lindorf /Dr Coppélius/Dr Miracle/Dappertutto,  he then returned to Opera Australia as Dr Bartolo Il barbiere di Siviglia, Paolo Simon Boccanegra and Alberich Der Ring des Nibelungen, his debut with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra as Alberich Das Rheingold, and a concert performance as Alberich Das Rheingold in Tianjin, China,
