Amelia Elson, Soprano

With a voice of luminous depth and dramatic intensity, Amelia Elson is establishing herself as a soprano whose artistry bridges the spinto and young dramatic repertoire. Now based in Germany, she is praised for performances that unite vocal brilliance with psychological insight and emotional truth.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and inspired by her Filipino heritage, Ms. Elson began her musical journey through piano, violin, and musical theatre before devoting herself to opera. After earning her Bachelor of Music at Towson University and her Master of Music at the Manhattan School of Music, she continued her artistic formation in Europe under the mentorship of Rudolf Piernay and through further training with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.

Ms. Elson has grown into the more dramatic spectrum of the soprano repertoire, after having first developed her craft in the lyric repertoire, performing roles such as Pamina, Donna Anna, Mimì, and Liù. Her current focus includes heroines such as Salome, Marietta, Rusalka, Ellen Orford, Elsa, and Leonora, revealing a voice that combines radiant power with emotional vulnerability.

Her portrayal of the title role in the world premiere of Die Stimme der Meerjungfrau at Theater Erfurt was critically acclaimed, praising her “powerful, dramatic voice and emotional intensity.” In 2025, Ms. Elson made her Italian debut as Mimì in La Bohème at Palazzo delle arti Beltrani with Orchestra Sinfonica Federiciana, marking an important milestone in her growing international career.

Based in Karlsruhe, she works closely with Europe’s foremost conductors and coaches, and currently collaborates with Cheryl Studer, John Fisher, and Susan Bullock, refining an artistry defined by intensity, elegance, and fearless storytelling.
